In addition they could find their lives a lot less fulfilling after doing so because they don't use that newfound freedom for anything worthwhile.

Scientific instruments(Like electron microscopes) are not funded by tuition, they are usually funded by instrument grants... unless they are being purchased for pathology diagnostic reasons for a hospital etc.

I assume he is still working at his normal job. Remember, everyone gets it, not just the unemployed. For him, UBI was essentially a raise of 34k... that can pay off some debts.

Those grants go to schools that support research effectively, which doesn't mean that they charge high tuition in order to have nice dorms for their undergrads and a bloated administration.

or keep your belongings in truly sealed bag overnight. They don't hang out on your clothes/body once the lights are on
