Bimini Biological Station is still going strong. They're taking a very proactive stance in creating and actually maintain a marine preserve in the Northern Mangroves of the island. Doc Gruber the scientist you've probably seen the most on Shark Week in regards to Sharklab has begun to step down and let Tristan Guttridge take the helm. Last time I was there in May there were 3 PIs going on along with the usual education outreach and general shark research.

So you must be a fan of Loxothylacus panopaei or other Sacculinidae? For those who don't know, they infect crustaceans and change their behavior by interefering and adjusting hormonal responses in the host. Essentially they make a crab take care of the parasite as if the host was gravid even if the crab is a male! Nature is simultaneously amazing and disturbing More information for interested people

What is you Doctoral Thesis covering? And what led you to decided on that topic? I am applying for doctoral programs in marine biology and am curious how you finally select the project you wanted to cover.

Thank you for doing this AMA, it's great for scientist to reach out the public and interpret the findings in a way everyone can understand rather than the esoteric research journals.
