That description is hugely over exaggerated, to the point of being completely false. I was there during the 2013 spring climbing season and the worst garbage you see on the glacier is yak dung. I have no idea where the 'Piles of human excrement' statement comes from in NG but every group operating from base camp pays $30,000 (USD!) to the Nepalese government as a rubbish deposit, refunded upon a clean inspection when they leave.

K2 is a much harder climb, more technical and more environmentally challenging. Never climbed in winter, whereas Everest can be climbed in autumn after monsoon. Everest has over 3500 summits, K2 has less than 300. Deaths are 200 and 80 respectively.

I believe they died on the runway above Namche, very sad. Congratulations on the summit, was the power still shut off in the valley on the trek back ?

I think this applies to all job titles.
