Your weather scenario has played out twice that I can recall:

  • Turkey Point in Homestead, FL took a direct hit from Hurricane Andrew (150 MPH winds)

  • Browns Ferry near Decatur, AL has a close pass from an EF-5 tornado.

  • St Lucie (FL), Crystal River (FL), Farley (AL), Riverbend (LA), and South Texas have all faced hurricane-force winds of a lower magnitude (maybe a few others)

The public information on Turkey Point and Browns Ferry is that they ramped down due to damage to the transmission grid.
