Not OP, but Does he own a tv or radio? What about mobile phone, all these devices use radiation to function and mobile phones specifically operate in the 'microwave' frequency. Radiation is a fairly nonspecific term encompassing everything from radio waves and visible light down to gamma rays emitted from unstable nuclei. Perhaps you could have some luck through educating him on the basics of radiation physics. Sounds like he has an advanced case of the general public hysteria when it comes to the words nuclear and radiation. I recommend starting with explaining the difference between ionising and non-ionising radiation. Good luck.

Is there a specific path or requirements to begin that sort of work? I'm an open source radiation worker in the medical field, delivering isotopes to patients for imaging procedures. I was wondering if someone with my skills could transition to the laboratory side of things and away from the patients at some stage. What do you think? Thanks for doing this AMA.
