Did you get your stuff back from the plane?

On a 110ft the generators aren't that complicated at least. No paralleling and bow thrusters that destroys them. Probably 0 spare parts. Maybe some fuses. But if the fuses go, replacing them won't help you. They blown for a reason.

A luxury cruise ship once had blackouts, we sold them retrofit parts. They had an occasional blackout if they enabled the bow thrusters. They sent a video with 3 camera's looking at panel meters stitched together. We look at it, and said: "The engine is too slow".

They were running 47 Hz. At 46 Hz the voltage regulator quits to prevent damage to the exciter. Turning on the bow thrusters pushed the engine over the edge. Blackout.

They did this many times. They had set up 3 camera's. They edited the video. They sent the video. They did not see or know. Basic generator 101.

As someone who works at a company repairing and servicing generators. There probably isn't even someone in their entire company that know how to fix it. They only know how to fix the engine attached to it.

Before planes perhaps?

So, today I was watching some ice skating on tv. Basically dozens of laps around the rink. Camera operators can’t continously follow them, the wires would get tangled and you’d get dizzy I suppose.

When do you know it’s okay to pan back for the next pass of the athletes? Does the director tell you? Or do they just pick the next camera and always have one on screen that’s tracking the athletes?
