Hello Amanda!

SciOps is Science Operations. We sequence (aka schedule) the individual instruments to accomplish the science goals.

1.) Most of the flight software is written in low level languages. *From what I understand since I am not a FSW person. SciOps uses Excel and Basic to sequence commands. I would imagine there is also some C, FORTRAN floating around as well.

2.) Most of SciOps is located in Boulder at SwRI, but the Applied Physics Laboratory sequences 2 instruments and there is one sequenced in Ithaca.

3.) I think networking with others involved in the community and getting your foot through the door with searching for job openings. I know SwRI has a SW opening in San Antonio.

4.) Oh yes indeed. Data analysts that help with visualizing the data is always needed. I did this for 8 years. Python (SciPy), IDL, STK are all needed.
