My old plant rad techs loved to tell newbies that doublemint gum was approved for use in contaminated areas.... Guess how that ended?

What steps do you think need to be taken to grow support for nuclear energy in the United States? What message would soften the heart of someone like Bernie Sanders?

Know the facts and talk about it. The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) did some great research that found support for nuclear significantly increases when people know that we provide 60% of carbon free energy in the United States.

Fear mongering has been the dominating dialog. When you go to a restaurant, do you pick the one with a big sign that says "Ecoli Free for 20 years!" Safe is assumed, so you're really just interested in good food. The industry needs to change the conversation to turn focus to our product: reliable, cost effective, energy.
