What advice can you offer to someone who self trained in their profession only to find all employers care about is a degree?

I dont know if it's a thing where you live, but I have the skin of a ginger when it comes to sun exposure and I tried out this one application sun screen that was made with outdoor activities in mind eg rock climbing and watersports where you cant really stop and apply more. This past year is the only summer in my life where I haven't had any sun burn. At the start I would panic and apply more but I found i just didn't need to. Spent a week in Las Vegas and didn't have a speck of sunburn to show for it, very impressed and it would have saved me a lot of pain when i was a kid. If you come across some i'd recommend giving it a try.
