Thanks for doing the AMA. What sort of training were you given when you were conscripted, and how long was it before you first saw action?

Were you treated any differently by the Germans because of your Muslim faith?

With all due respect, you didn't particularly answer my question regarding the similarities/ differences between Labour and the Conservatives. Where your roots are and what you have become are very different.

Whilst one is in power, the other will always criticise them for the decisions they make, but it's a fairly rare occurrence for an alternative solution to be offered. I follow politics fairly closely, and I can't think of a time in the last 5 years where an alternative choice has been offered by the Opposition.

Benefits- Conservatives want to cut, Labour makes noise but Balls says they will cut

Housing- Conservatives don't build enough, Labour don't say what they're going to do to make sure enough is built

Youth Unemployment- Conservatives introduce the very controversial work schemes, Labour criticises but hasn't offered anything instead

Foreign Policy- with the exception of when to recall Parliament, I can't remember a serious disagreement within this Parliament

NHS spending- Conservatives closing hospitals and trying to sell off various sectors, a practice started by Labour and again (my local A&E was ordered closed under Brown and completed under Cameron), moans by no commitment to change.

What I'm trying to get at is that to a large part of the population who don't have the interest/ time to learn about the finer details the parties can appear the same. To many we are in a state of Butskellism. How do you respond to those who make that claim?

Do you feel politicians have contributed to the apathy of politics in the UK? If so, what do you believe politicians need to do to change the publics opinion?

Do you believe it's fair to say that Labour and the Conservatives are very similar in terms of policy, and argue only over very fine points?

The last time Labour were in power inequality increased steadily. Aside from the mansion tax, what are you going to do to tackle it, and why should we have faith that you'll follow through on it?

Housing is a huge issue, especially for young people. I attended a conference a few weeks ago where Hilary Benn outlined Labour's plans, but refused to say if the party would commit to them (in fairness, neither did any other party speaker). What is your opinion of the housing crisis, and why won't Labour commit to tackling it?
