This is frustrating to me. I'm a motorcycle rider, and I cannot count the number of times that I've had a cabbie do the super-slow lane change into me, oblivious to my presence because he didn't turn his head and look, while holding a cell phone against the left side of his head. My commute took me past the airport, so it was literally about once a week. It is difficult for me to not generalize my hatred about this after having so many cabbies do that to me, and I confess that when I first heard of Uber and Lyft, it was my sincerest hope that the entire centrally-dispatched taxi business in the US would be disrupted into a smoking crater.

Going to have to post just to support this.

I am 50 years old, and this is the biggest story about the US in my lifetime by far. This is a story about multiple federal agencies and all three branches of government deliberately violating the constitutional rights of hundreds of millions of Americans. Either this story will be widely discussed in the US a hundred years from now, or US society as we know it is going to take a terrible turn for the worst.

How would you go about writing a function that takes an integer value that I pass you and returns a count of the number of bits that are set to 1? For example, if I pass you the decimal value 9, the function should return 2 because 9 = 1001 in binary.

I'd be more interested in the questions and conversation about the problem that ensued than in the code itself.

Thank you.

What do you think are areas of endeavor that technology people such as cryptographers and network software developers who wish to make the world a better place should be focusing on?

A couple days ago in this thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/1xspe1/slaughtered_for_ivory_65_of_forest_elephants/ someone mentioned the possibility of hiring contractors to hunt poachers.

What are your thoughts on that?
