What would you said is the best way to have a reasonable discussion with a conspiracy theorist? Or, how do you reason with an individual unwilling to accept certain facts?

1.) Why do you think ARs are to blame for gun-violence in this nation when they account for roughly less than 1% of gun related deaths?

You understand that over 60% of all gun related deaths are from suicide, right? You understand that an overwhelming majority (~65%) of gun crime in this nation is committed with handguns, right? 4% we're committed with rifles, and of that 4% only a fraction we're semi-automatic. AR-15s and AK-47s are not the problem. They're not weapons of war; just because it looks like something else doesn't mean it's capable of the same performance (A v6 Mustang couldn't outperform a Shelby Cobra even though they look identical.)

2.) Why do you call your plan a "mandatory buyback." The point of a buyback is to be voluntary, as in up to the individuals own volition. Mandatory connotes the idea that there will be repercussions for failing to comply, as in you are prepared to have the police kill people and throw others in Jail. You're not describing a buyback, you are pledging for a full confiscation. Do you plan to reimburse over half the population of this country the full value of their collections? I'm going to assume the answer is no, and you'll offer $200 for each item turned in. That won't even come close to being a fraction of what most people paid for their property.
