My bill went from $40K to $5K, though negotiation usually included me calling them twice a week on my commute to ask for an itemized bill, and then once a week on my commute challenging parts of the bill. And much fun was had by all... in the 6 months it took for me to get it resolved.

Also, fuck US hospital billing.

I'm assuming this wasn't in New York, because if it was, you were robbed. There are some fantastic kosher pizza places.

How would this kind of information be hidden in a trial? If the prosecution knew of it, and it helped their case, they would've used it. If the prosecution knew of it, and it helped the defendant, they would have a rock solid obligation to disclose it to the defense, who would've used it.

Did it get found out after the trial?

That seems unlikely unless they run their own cell phone company. No company would target a plan like that.
