Do you pay much attention to how local education authorities/school boards operate? How big an effect do you think that that kind of work has on the general populace's understanding of history (particularly the uglier parts that you would have to cover as part of your job)?

I brought the issue up because some people attributed the recent debates over the Confederate flag (at least partially) to local school boards deciding to use textbooks that downplayed the severity of slavery and racial tensions.

I (white Canadian) generally say "Aboriginal" or "First Nations". Both of those are in fairly common usage.

When writing characters with decades of continuity and character development behind them, is it difficult to make their actions/dialogue consistent with their personalities? How do you achieve this?

Do you think more libraries should adopt the TOR network, like that one that made the news a while back (I think it was in New Hampshire)?
