Probably because being full of shit is bad for your credibility. Being able to acknowledge you don't know something fosters personal development. The whole premise of higher education beyond undergrad is being able to find an answer for something you don't know.

It's no wonder really. A structured, scientific approach to modern problems would often lead to resolutions that are at odds with religious or societal beliefs (nuclear power, GMOs, vaccines, etc). If I hopped out of academia into politics I would be intensely frustrated all the time because of the response critical thinking would receive. Scientists are used to people disagreeing with them based on contradicting evidence, not feelings/beliefs. I'd be near apoplectic if I spent a large amount of time researching legislation based on evidence only to be shouted down because it "goes against the Bible" or "isn't natural".

That was amazing. Thank you for sharing that. Really lets people connect the dots and see that there was a person behind that mask, and he was funny.

Not the OP but: ALT TAGS.. Alt tags are what screenreaders like JAWS use to tell non-sighted people what objects are what. About a year ago I went through every line of code on my company's website, installer, launcher, and client. Just simply going "This is the agree button, JAWS says nothing when I hover over it, Alt tag as 'click here to install'". I received almost immediate feedback from CS reps that sighted people were noticing the alt tags, and so were a few non-sighted callers.
