I am trained and certified in feline euthanasia (from working at the SPCA). Prior to this I had watched, and held, two beloved cats be put down. It doesn't matter if it was necessary, it is still the hardest thing I've ever been through.

I put one cat down, a feral stray who had bit a co-worker (any cat that bites must be put down and examined, via cutting open the skull, for rabies). It was the first, and last, animals I'll ever use that certificate for-- it made me sick and depressed for weeks. I no longer wanted to play God.
