How tall is your corn this year?

I'm European and I've been to several major urban areas in the US before, but this year, for the first time, I had the chance to stay with some friends in a Midwestern rural area (around the border of Illinois, Wisonsin and Iowa). Everyone was really friendly and talked a lot about corn and rain (cliche-ish but true). Every time you got into someone's truck to go anywhere they were like look at that corn, it's so short/tall/dry/whatever, hehe. Anyway, really nice people. I was based in a bigger town, but it was really cool to go to these smaller farming communities that don't look like the rest of subruban America. I'm afraid it's a reality of the country that many Americans don't know at all (and sometimes even make fun of). So, thanks for your work, farmers are vital in every country.

You are an inspiration. I've heard and read so many fucked up things about medical and pharmaceutical research, that you don't really know if the system works anymore. I have two (sets of) questions:

1) First one would be about drama (sorry). Did you have the chance to confront your superiors? Were you able tell them what you think of them? Did they got you and throw some Network-style speech at you? You have meddled with the primary forces of nature, Mr monkeywantsbanana!

2) How could we change the way the scientific community operates in order to avoid or minimize the corruption?
