They only lose thousands of dollars if you were to buy at msrp. The dealership still get "Hold back" which varies by manufacturer. And there can be multiple holdbacks, sometimes over $1k depending on options. Don't get me wrong, Costco is a hassle free, out the door pricing but they CAN still go lower. Always try to get to net net :) autobook or a simple google search can help you figure out invoice/wholesale price. The sales person gets kickbacks usually from the manufacturer based on volume sold. They usually have to hit a minimum number and that's why last day of the month is the best.
