I'm no veteran but I have an appreciation for your situation and experience with trauma. I'm sorry you feel that trying to work through your experience lead to your fiancée leaving. Having someone you can trust is an important thing for someone wanting to move forward.

Have you thought about trying to connect with other folks you served with and sharing your experiences? Also, I paid a shrink money for years and even though it was a professional relationship, she was great and the second most trusted person in my life. Careful, though. There are plenty of shitty shrinks out there.

Good luck to you. There's a great book called "trauma and recovery" that was written about twenty years ago. Deals with everything from battle fatigue to rape. Took me a while to get through it, but shed light on the processes.

Best wishes and, needless to say, if she wasn't ready to hear you when you needed her most, you are better off without her. Good luck.

Have you witnessed incidents that clearly contradict the coverage that we receive in the U.S.?

Thank you for your reply. Your reply actually prompted a follow-up, in my mind. How likely is it that the Syrians will be able to finish this? If they do finish it, how likely is it that the United States and outside interests will allow Syria to coalesce naturally without their influence?
