China is a pretty awful place as far as their government is concerned, but they are not communist in any sense of the word other than name. They're completely categorized economically as national capitalist / state capitalists. Ask any economist.

I think my best advice is for patients to know their rights and know the state organizations you can contact if you feel like those rights are being violated.

Too bad people who are violating your rights tend to not allow you to use telephones or to meet with people to tell them you're being mistreated.

Have you been paying attention at all? The Hong Kong police, puppets of the Beijing government, have been attacking journalists and medics for helping protesters. They don't give a single shit. They're terrorizing the Hong Kong population into obedience.

Dr. House, played by Hugh Laurie, is ridiculous though. I'm a native US English speaker and until seeing Hugh Laurie in an interview where he speaks out of character, I had no idea he wasn't from the US.
