Can you explain the mindset that would cause people to spit on random drafted soldiers? How did people not see that as just kicking someone while they were down? You never asked to go over there

I lived out of my car for a couple months. Only had the cops called once when I was parked in an unfinished upper middle class residential neighborhood. I was probably 100 yards from any house but someone saw me (at night) and called the cops.

They showed up, one of them looked into my car with a flashlight. Both of them were friendly and helpful and told me I wasn't breaking any laws but that if they got any more complaints they'd be forced to make me go somewhere else. I told them I'd spend the night there and then find another place to sleep from then on out... and I did.

Everything went better than expected :)

But it still sucked to be hassled though even by cool cops.
