What are the costs of the materials involved in the process and the machines used? Do you think it will eventually see home versions like 3D Printers, Crisper, etc?

Also, is it only more costly because the slave wages are so inexpensive in other countries?

Because it's less expensive (for you the consumer) to buy the lab grown thing that is chemically identical to the "real" thing. If you have a gold atom, and someone creates a gold atom(somehow), they are both real. At this point it comes down to, is your S.O. a gemologist and can they tell the difference. If not, then you are basing your commitment in a relationship to an arbitrary number of value.
