Hi Andy,

Do you ever have regrets about leaving CERN and being involved in science research? What was the reaction of your colleagues when you announced you were leaving to go into technology?

Cheers.

What are your plans for the future? Continuing research in volcanoes/Antarctica, or something else?

Most people don't quite get how dangerous bows are

I mean, they're a weapon at the end of the day. They're supposed to be dangerous to whatever you shoot them at. I get shot at with rubber tipped arrows as part of one of my hobbies and yeah, it hurts. I definitely wouldn't be comfortable if I knew they had steel tips rather than rubber ones. A friend of mine nearly lost eyesight in one eye from a 'rogue' shot to the face with a rubber tipped crossbow bolt.

I'm OK with that in this instance.

Authenticity and entertainment are not mutually exclusive. And while I commend that you try and educate kids about history, I worry that because your standards are low (by your own admission) that you could be misleading them.

There is so much disinformation about history out there that it pains me to see people who really don't care that much. While, in your head, you draw a distinction between entertainment and education, the general public do not. I've seen it countless times at reenactment events myself. People, by and large, are ill informed. Reinforcing myths at events just makes things worse.

EDIT: Also, I apologise if I'm being quite terse here...England just lost and I'm quite frustrated about it.
