I don't actually have a question, but I just want to say from one hospital worker (who doesn't have to do clean up) to another: thank God for you and the people who do your job. I've seen the shit (literally) that you guys have to clean up, and it ain't pretty. So thanks :)

That's really unfortunate, but as someone who scans for endocarditis as a job, I can verify that you would sound like a text book lying drug user. That type of infection is so commonly associated with IV drug abuse, that we'd just assume you were lying to us. We get pretty jaded by this recurring circumstance.. Glad you are not the typical young male endocarditis patient! Also, super awesome that you didn't need a valve replacement!!

Those artificial hearts are tricky because they have external components which are difficult for patients to care for. And let's face it, not many patients are as meticulous as we'd like them to be in taking care of themselves and their complicated medical equipment. Patient compliance is a huge issue.

Nobody should be treated like crap, I agree. But on the flip side, we get pretty damn sick of being lied to constantly when our only goal is to give medical help as fast as possible.
