Hi again...greedy with second question.

I was struck by a quote in your book "Kitsch is the mask of death" which I take as aesthetics over ethics. The book The Rites of Spring talks about kitsch and the rise of fascism for example. Would you agree that this is now pertinent with the Trump administration (the reality star who posed in a golden lift..)?

Hi John. First of all, thank you and all involved for writing the book and thank you for your tweets (and tolerating mine). Britain has just passed the most invasive surveilance laws in our history ('the snoopers charter') allowing unparalled access to private citizens data including phone calls, messages, app usage, internet etc. This goes to the heart of our free press. It will punish those who may be innocent or are telling the truth. We have also extradited aspergers 'hacker' Lauri Love to the US under a Trump presidency. How can journalists in this climate of hyper surveillance halt the advance of post-truth politics? Lou (lou_carr79)
