Essentially, the parent is saying that in general, a larger, more notable (and expensive) school is going to be harder. Your plan punishes a person for going to Harvard, where they might only get a 3.6 even though they work harder than if they went to a community college and got a 4.0 with less work.

But that doesn't address the parent's concern.
