My dad died several years ago to cancer. Fathers day has always been a little bittersweet since.

I have no remaining male ancestors. I often feel like I don't have any male authority figures I can approach on a personal level when I am feeling overwhelmed or just want to talk. What would you do?

I am 1/4 Norwegian by heritage (my grandmother immigrated when she was 4), so I really felt for y'all over there. Stay strong, distant kin. :)

This is probably too broad, but what are some examples of other phrases and misnomers?

I’ve heard of Indian powwows (sp?) and one time when I was up in Maine I saw one gathering, but I don’t actually know what they’re about. Is it just a gathering? What is the cultural significance?

Side question, is “Native American” an appropriate term? Or what’s a better one to use?
