Bravo. Understanding things is the first step to no longer fearing them. If more people took the time to understand what a gun is and what it does, they might not be so afraid of them. Like any other object or substance that has the potential to be hazardous, it has proper handling methods that should absolutely be followed a hundred percent of the time.

It's an unfortunate truth. Honestly the solution to a lot of the rhetoric would be to sit some folks down with a qualified and certified instructor and walk them through a hands-on course, teach them that firearms are just another inanimate object.

Yes it is, and that's exactly why better education is necessary. I'm strongly against a ban myself, for a few reasons, but absolutely in favor of enabling people to reach their own conclusions on things, rather than having their opinions fed to them by someone else, on either side.
