This sub - and in particular, the fact that high-profile celebrities’ appearances on here often featured in articles in places like BBC News - is how I discovered Reddit.

Your decisions are absolutely going to make Reddit a less significant place on the internet. And I wholeheartedly endorse them. The way Reddit has behaved in the past few weeks is disgusting, and they deserve every bit of bad publicity they get as well as all the consequences that come from it.

With no bun orders you're bound to get the occasional confused look as it is one of the rarer things to order

I used to have a semi-regular customer (this was 20 years ago when I worked at McDs) who used to order a Big Mac, no meat in the bun, but the meat wrapped up separately. Turns out he was a vegetarian, and used to eat the Big Mac no meat, then he'd feed the meat to his dog!

Usually true, but not always. See Ernie, for example:

To create random numbers, sensors counted the number of electrons passing through a neon diode at various intervals, and to ensure these were especially robust, each of the nine numbers or letters generated by ERNIE was the combination of two diodes’ electron output. The method of using thermal noise to generate and collect random outputs would be the cornerstone of ERNIE’s descendants too.

As a (former) pilot and flying instructor, here’s my take: yes, controllers make mistakes. So do pilots.

One of the many safety nets is that we cross-check each other’s work.

Controller tells me to line up on the runway? I’ve been listening to the radio traffic, I’m aware if someone is going to be landing on that runway soon. Regardless of what I’ve heard (at some airports, landing traffic is on a different frequency to departing traffic, so I can’t assume I’ve heard everything relevant), I’m going to take a good look at the approach before I enter a runway to check for landing traffic.

And I have no problem whatsoever saying to the controller “we’ll hold here and wait for the landing traffic” if necessary.

Number of times this has happened to me? Zero. Controllers are incredibly competent. I’ve seen them make much more minor mistakes though, and they’ve always appreciated me spotting the mistake and correcting/not acting on it.

what's the best franken-food creation you've seen someone make?

I left McDs 20 years ago (this is like a nostalgia thread for me!)

But the best thing was when you got to go on your break at the end of breakfast. Breakfast pancakes (normally served with sausage patty or syrup) served with ice cream (not normally available during breakfast) - yum!
