I used to tour around with this Southern Rock band and my god the amount of people who thought it was hilarious to go "Freebiiiiiiiiiiiiiiird" in the middle of an original song is... ugh.

Whether it was country bars, frat parties, or campus events, there is always that one asshole that thinks yelling "Freebird" is the most clever shit ever.

Not OP, but guy who asked question.

It's just such an American cliche.

The song is a legendary song with some amazing guitar solos, and thus people often request it to try to challenge the musician. Not only that, the song is super long.

I think it's the cliche/meme aspect that you get tired of as a musician. You get that asked so much "for the lulz", that after a while the joke isn't funny anymore.
