That sounds like a pretty quick process. Why, then, do inmates sit on death row for years? Are they all simply slogging through appeals, does it take the governor forever to get around to signing the execution warrant, or what?

Thanks for this AMA. Fantastically interesting.

People like you took my niece from Sloth ("loves Chunk", not chills in trees) to actual cute baby. Thank you.

I have a close friend with type 3. Hers started manifesting when she was about 4. She's in her late 20s now. Wheelchair-bound (she just got her first power chair, and watching her zoom around unassisted is so exciting!). No use of her legs at all, and while she can still use her arms and hands, they're quite weak; I have to open bottles for her, for example.

Uh. That's about the limit of my knowledge of SMA type 3. May your sister escape it!

She was almost as hairy as one. Does that help?

She's still in it; she's only had it for about four months. She's nine months old now. Whenever I hang out with her, her head just smells like baby. Shall I report back when her little noggin is all shapely? Maybe it'll stink then.

Note: I've been wearing a neoprene brace on my hand for about the same length of time she's been wearing her helmet. It's summer here, and that thing gets unbearably foul within about two days. I can't imagine what her helmet's going to end up smelling like.
