Exactly. Harsh as this might sound, it's not something op shouldve done for sake of herself, but for the little op which has to live the rest of his/her life because their parent would feel 'guilty'. Adequate answer for entirely wrong reasons.

Kind of the same deal for me. Both my parents are Iranian and so am I, but I'm fearful of returning due to the new behavior that has grown in me in the last 15 years that I didn't spend in Iran, especially my views on religion.
