How close did you feel to the people? Did you feel any connection with the culture at all? Having been raised in Jordan since the age of 4 the first time I visited Iraq since fleeing I felt like a foreigner, the culture and people around me were different than how I remember when I was a toddler, I felt that it wasn’t my home.
