It appears church attendance in the US will continue to decline. Do you see a downside to this?

If a close friend said they wanted to go to seminary and then into ministry, and they asked your advice, what would say?

You're also humble, so I'll point out that you are very thoughtful, you did a simple thing that few do, read books. You answered challenges honestly and didn't claim anything until you had worked through it. Just the act of giving yourself a year to think about it was a statement about allowing yourself the freedom to consider.

Don't we all? Ryan, I don't think your time as a pastor was wasted. I appreciate how you have publicly worked through this year. It's contributed to communities on all sides of the faith question. We need more people who have the credibility of leading a truly religious lives and can 'show their work' of how they changed their views.
