As someone who worked in genetc diagnostics for nearly 10 years the FDA made the right call for this. First of all the standards for medical diagnostics are significantly higher than those of the recreational market. The lab I worked in was a CLIA/CAP lab, but one of the departments did ancestry testing. There were a lot of things we did in Operations, that ancestry didn't, to comply with CLIA/CAP. I offered to train the ancestry people in one of the systems, because I developed the procedure and tools for it, but was brushed off by the ancestry manager. Second of all there is a lot of information a lay person does even know enough to ask about, but should be.
I have a lot of concerns about the recreational market and have been talking about it for years.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your testing done?

So I'm a bio geek that worked in diagnostics for nearly 10 years, including SMA. As such I was wondering if you had considered genetic testing and if it might help with personalizing your treatment options?
