No you do not need to wait for a deceased donor as a diabetic. A lot of time they (doctors) choose Not to allow the pancreas even if it is available because "you can live without it" and because the warning signs for rejection are not as easy to see. You are absolutely correct about the lack of transparency though. I frankly feel it is bull people not already on dialysis get the organs first sometimes. Just getting on the fabled list is damn near impossible for some of us, even with donors.

Yeah that is part of why I don't do treatments at home. My pets get the whole castle and can't stand to be shut out of a room someone is in. Plus I have enough medical stuff I have to do at home and frankly it's now one of the few reasons I leave the house. Ernie looks awesome btw!

Yeah it's a great idea for multiple donors to be tested because some won't match right and some may not be physically cleared as able to donate. (There are various reasons that might happen diabetes has been mentioned but other things too)
