Better, gmail follows an old email standard that says if there's a + in the "name" portion of the email address the + and part after are only processed by the end user's account.

So if i am [email protected] (I'm not) and i tell the clerk my address is [email protected] the address will be seen as unique and i will know what database was stolen when i get random spam.

Plus! I'll get all those 100% discount email promotions and i can selectively unsubscribe if i want to (i do).
