I just read the WTF thread. A ways down there was a post about a Navy diver who was working with a dive buddy. When the diver was blown away by a sudden underwater current, he looked for his buddy but only found a frayed tether.

What does 'bent' mean?

I was really into reading about the US Gilded Age (1870-1900 or so). Rockefeller, Gould, Carnegie, and my own local Robber Barron James J. Hill. One character stood out because he is credited with bringing down the past electoral system: William Andrews Clark.
