How long did you have a complete work ready and were just waiting on that chance meeting with a publisher?

I watched a documentary last year called "The Celluloid Closet" detailing the portrayal of homosexuals in cinema. I found it curious that they showcased two of your films, "The Boys in the Band" and "Cruising", without ever bringing up the fact the same man helmed both films. They praised "Boys" as being an important early example of a film with fleshed out homosexual characters that countered stereotypes, yet only focused on the controversy around "Cruising" and the violence in the film. Have you seen "The Celluloid Closet" and, if so, did you feel a bit slighted by the omission of information?
