I feel that anything five feet long is no longer a 'knife'.

Lots of navigational and interactive skills are much easier to learn while sighted. Braille, cane use, guide dogs, to name a few. I have a genetic disorder that slowly degrades my eyesight, so I practice the skills I'll need when I can't see while I can.
