I would assume that once the patent is approved then released to public domain it can no longer be patented.

Edit: Where as someone who leaves it to public domain and lets it get picked up could have the potential to be held forever.

NI Massive is an absolutely fantastic piece of software. Is the rest of your work done in an environment like Abelton or Reason? For the demo tracks at least?
