Kevin was the guy who championed the NBN, it was supposed to be optic fibre to an overwhelming majority of homes directly to the living room. In Australia we don't elect a president/prime minister, rather we elect a party who chooses their leader who becomes prime minister. Internal politics caused old mate to be ousted and replaced with another briefly. Then the opposition came into power championing their "cheaper better faster" NBN alternative (which was neither of those things) which consists of fibre to the exchanges, copper the rest of the way.

tl;dr we were going to, it was turned into political football, now we're kinda upgrading but it will be outdated very soon, if it isn't already.
