Not sure, but I think it has to do with the fact that the vietcong looked the same as normal villagers, thus making it harder on the soldiers. Unlike WW1/WW2, where everybody was in uniform.

I love seeing good causes get funds! Happy for you and the animals. There are enough animals suffering in the world, its good to see some good stuff happening every once in a while :)
