They only "produce" the CO2 that will be absorbed by their food plants again though, while fossil fuels add more CO2 to the cycle.

No, I'm talking about CO2, not about manure, which is a completely different problem.

The CO2 does go back in the cycle just like car emissions.

With the difference that car emissions come from fossil fuels and cow emissions come from today's plants, meaning they can't add more CO2 than the carbon contained in the plants they eat. Which is the same amount the plants absorb in their life.

I don't know the numbers, but it is probably substantial. Hopefully this will be solved with biofuels and electric vehicles, because I don't see people eating significantly less meat overall.
