How does Ray get that beautiful guitar tone?

About a month or two after the breakup, Gerard went back and listened to each studio album, starting with Danger Days, and tweeted his reaction in text. Famous Last Words is his favorite song on TBP. I'm not sure which was his favorite on Bullets, but he kept commenting on how angry he was when he was writing these songs. "What was I so angry about?"

I've heard Gerard say (in interviews and on Life on the Murder Scene) that "we basically just wrote something to get us out touring" and that it was really hard to play Skylines and Turnstiles, at least. He basically just couldn't wait until they started writing new music so he didn't have to perform it anymore. It was really hard, emotionally, because of the content, but he felt like America needed to hear it.

Does it sound weird that I dream to one day be in a situation where I have to hold myself for hours on a hot bus?
