The country voted against it because the tories made up some bullshit about how we didnt have enough money, when we really, really did..

I think the name is actually an asset. It catches people's attention and we've had feedback from some voters that the only reason they've given our leaflets a read is because the name was interesting. At events, when we're knocking on doors or talking to people in the street it's also very useful. The name is also a reflection of who we are and where we've come from - we're part of a global movement that has been successful in winning elections at every level: Local, regional, national and supranational. I don't think a generic or more worthy sounding name (the Internet party? Internet democracy party? Digital rights party...) would help us at all, it would paint us in a corner and frankly, be less effective at drawing people in.

I dont know if this answers your question completely, but this is a response from the first post regarding the party's name.

I wouldnt say its irresponsible. Its his opinion and its perfectly valid. Just because someone has influence in no way means they have to change their opinions. If anything its great he stood up and said what he thinks, even if its controversial.

Honestly, I agreed with him until I properly looking into the Pirate Party. If you only focus on the main parties, I dont think there is anything worth voting for. Thats just my opinion though.

PPUK are not a one issue party though...

Take a look at their policies, you will see they are just as well refined as the digital rights.
