We could do that, sure, but it defeats the point of that quest. What the player must help Dorn decide is between power and freedom - and freedom sometimes has a very clear cost.

Seconding. I worked on Pillars of Eternity, so slightly biased, but it feels very much like a spiritual successor to the Infinity Engine games!

Over the saga it's probably Imoen or Minsc, in BGII:EE specifically it'd have to be Cernd, Mazzy or Viconia.
