John, I love your work and kind of hold you up as a role model to myself as a 49 year old guy just wrapping my first novel. Thank you so much for sharing your time with this AMA.

I have two questions:

1) What kind of advice can you offer for a 49 year old guy just wrapping up his first novel (I'm asking for a friend)?

2) I think "The God Engines" was perhaps the most bizarre, but well thought out, settings I've ever seen. Did you ever consider more stories in that setting?

It doesn't matter if OP has sensitive info or not about the systems they work on. Current deployment, unit identify, identify of fellow troops: all those are a gold mine for groups working in opposition or looking looking for people to subvert. "Loose lips sink ships" is a really irritating saying, but it reflects the truth of how most intelligence is gathered.

Do you read heist fiction like Donald Westlake? If so, do you have a favorite author?
