This is truly inspiring. I'm also a designer, that has studied the IDEO human centered design practice quite a bit. I try to apply it in my own work, though it tends to fall on deaf ears working with the clients that I have.

Is there any way that I could join you? I'd seriously give it all up to work on projects like these!

I currently work in graphic design, running a small design shop. Mostly sub-contract work for larger agencies, but also work with small business and other start-ups.

I do try to approach each project with HCD in mind with my own clients, but sub-contracting is very much a bubble working with a creative director and no client interaction, so the experience is limited.

What does the iteration phase look like for your prototypes? I imagine there are the obvious budget constraints of any other non-profit, so do you start out with a set budget, or scale the project based on need?

Thanks! I've watched quite a few lessons/videos from The Futur. Great stuff, although I will admit that his approach to design doesn't work well in my area (very rural).

My own clients are usually fairly small time, anywhere from $600-$4k budgets.. So the methods I learn from Chris tend to out-price these businesses very quickly. I do enjoy working with them, though I think working on projects such as end of life care would be much more fulfilling.
