Do you take cases with students of varying ideological backgrounds? Would you, for example, defend the free speech of students (or faculty) with views you find personally offensive or deeply mistaken?

At what point does a student or faculty member have a legitimate claim against a university? Clearly, a firing or an expulsion for unwanted speech would constitute a legitimate claim — but what about a generally hostile work environment? Or faculty unwilling to work with a graduate student in a collegial way, because of the student's political activism? At what point does a claim move from "learn to get along with people you disagree with, kids" to "here's a case we can actually litigate"?
